Milk Bottle Vases, and more!

Updated: Jun 26, 2022

1. Most of us drink milk and almost always buy it in one of those milk jars. These jars can be recycled, but if you're in need of a vase, why not use them?

Method:

  1. Cut your milk jar in half horizontally.

  2. Turn the half with the cap on it upside down, and place it inside the other half.

  3. Fill the capped half with dirt and a plant, and unscrew the cap.

  4. Now, any excess water will flow down into the other half!

This is a great way to reuse a jar that otherwise would be going to a landfill!

NOTE: Make sure the dirt is compact and mildly damp before opening, as loose dirt will fall off.

2. Make a fort out of cardboard boxes! They can be any size, for example, big packages can go at the bottom while small tissue boxes can make a roof! This is a great way to spend quality time with your children, and it also encourages children to shine and use the creative

side of their minds!

3. Plastic water bottles are super bad for the environment, however, they can also be used in extremely creative ways! For example, if you've got some spare sand at home, why not make a timer out of two bottles? Just poke a hole in some caps and stick them together, and voila! You've created a timer!

Alternatively, you can use plastic water bottles to make what I call the water bottle irrigation system! In a nutshell, it's a bunch of water in a bottle underneath the plant. If the plant needs water, it will suck some water out of the bottle until it doesn't need any. This is one of the most sustainable and water-friendly methods of watering the plants, and the best part is you don't need to do anything(save for refilling the bottle)!

4. Old toothbrushes are usually things that we throw away, but with a quick wash, they can be used to clean the cracks in the bathrooms! You don't need to throw away another toothbrush!
